About Me

Hi, I’m Lucy!

I’m a writer, digital nomad and adventure seeker who loves travel, nature, coffee and immersing myself in new cultures.

But one place that has really stolen my heart is Egypt!

In recent years, I’ve developed a huge passion for exploring the country and photographing the details of the incredibly preserved ancient wonders and beautiful desert tones. And lying back by the Red Sea of course!

What Can Egypt With Lucy Do For You?

If you are an independent traveller and or visiting Egypt for the first time, then you’re in the right place!

After 10+ trips and 2+ years living here (and counting), I still remember how overwhelming Egypt can feel at first.

So, I created Egypt With Lucy to share my tips, advice, and local insights that I’ve learned along the way through travel guides, to help you plan a memorable Egypt trip of your own and explore the Land of the Pharaohs with confidence!

From finding the best koshary and coffee spots, to figuring out whether GoBus or BlueBus is the best, and which places are worth adding to your itinerary, I’ve made sure to cover the details that actually matter!

Everything I share comes from first-hand personal experience and I only write about things I’ve actually done!

My Egypt Story

Egypt wasn’t supposed to be my second home… but here I am!

I first visited on a family holiday to Sharm el Sheikh in 2015, but truthfully, the cultural experience came second to the sun, snorkelling, tanning, and lounging by the pool. And this was the case on the next few trips too!

However, I flipped the script when my boyfriend Sam and I planned a 6-week Egypt adventure back in 2023, and shifted the focus to the Nile, cultural experiences, and historic attractions.

And I absolutely loved it!

After backpacking our way around Cairo and Luxor, before continuing the adventure by the Red Sea in Dahab, I knew I’d be back again soon!

Yes, I experienced some pushy sellers at the main attractions and I’ll admit I’m not 100% comfortable with the haggling, but it wasn’t as bad as some people make it out to be, and I’ve since returned several more times to discover other places like Aswan, Alexandria, Siwa Oasis, and Hurghada.

I’ve even collectively spent over 2 years living in Dahab!

And that’s how I not only fell in love with exploring Egypt, but how I found my home away from home!
